Music began for me with piano lessons as a nine year old. My mom, though not musical herself, had the wisdom to insist that my brothers and I take lessons. So it was practice everyday BEFORE school; my mom knew piano practice didn't stand a chance against after-school horsing around.
After six years of lessons and a couple year break for round-the-clock sports, I returned to music with a full-scale infatuation with the electric guitar. I taught myself to play, spending every spare moment figuring out whatever songs were coming through my FM radio. Beginning in high school and on through college, I played in a long string of cover and original rock bands - mostly on keyboards and a little guitar. At some point I also became a singer; with no one else willing to get behind the mic, I discovered that I enjoyed center stage and could actually sing! A few years ago I rekindled my love of acoustic guitar and performing solo - which had been bumping along for years leading campfire singalongs. More recently, I've broadened my appreciation of different musical genres; especially country music. I've always enjoyed the challenge of learning and playing new songs by ear and, in the process, coming up with uniquely personal interpretations. Bringing together those songs and my passion for performing to entertain people is great fun! Wielding a pretty interesting song list - ranging from Foo Fighters to Ed Sheeran to Avett Brothers - I hope to see y'all at your favorite Farmer's Market, brewery, or wine bar soon! |
